Episode 66 - A President for the Ages

Days away from certain victory over the Confederates, President Abraham Lincoln delivered his second inaugural address. The 701-word speech directly addressed the nation to the war’s root cause –slavery, and emphasized binding up the nation’s wounds with malice toward none and charity for all. One man, present at Lincoln’s second inaugural address, would soon attempt to rekindle one last spark of Confederate hope as Lincoln would become the first U.S. president to be assassinated.
